Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
​Jenna West was elected as a captain this season, her third year on varsity, where she has been a starter all three years.  Her, speed and physical play on the field, coupled with her soccer knowledge allows her to play faster and smarter than most every other player.  She will play any position on the field to help her team to victory.

Jenna is also a leader in the classroom where she soars academically.  Her athletic ability on top of her academic excellence has sent many college recruiters to visit.  These great assets were huge factors to Jenna accepting an offer to play soccer at San Diego State upon graduation in 2021.

Jenna West is well deserved of receiving the Athlete of the Month for the women's varsity soccer team.

December '19 - Erika Buenaventura

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
​Since the beginning of the season, Erika has been a key member of the Frosh defensive line.  In December, she became the cornerstone of the defense after a season ending injury to the team's other defensive center back.  Her strong on field presence in November and December led her to being named a captain for the season.  To date, Erika has two assists, two goals and one game winning goal.  Her longest goal came from 40+ yards away from the goal.

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
​Rylie led the team during the month of December in goals with nine (9) goals and three (3) assists.  Rylie has been an excellent team player, who knows her role within the team while providing excellent offensive tenacity to complement her teammates,while providing goals.  Rylie is a junior, who has committed to playing soccer at San Francisco State University upon graduation.

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
​Lily is one of the JV captains, who constantly steps up to continue to lead and inspire her teammates.  Lily's constant performance and uplifting attitude has helped the JV team win many games during this season.  She has shown she is a leader both on and off the field, while excelling in the classroom too.

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
Olivia is in her third year on varsity and has started every game in her high school career.  Olivia is in her first year as captain of the varsity team.  She is a integral part of the team in her holding midfield position.  She is a player that makes other players better around her, contains and marks the best opposing players and contributes on both sides of the field.  Olivia has 2 goals and 2 assists this season, but it does not reflect how many times she ultimately begins the offensive attack.  Olivia is a huge part of our possession offensive attack and has shown great leadership in her third year on the varsity team.

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
Rebekah suffered an ankle injury early in the season and continued to play through the injury, she was instrumental in the development and progress of the Freshman team.  She learned that the injury would ultimately result in surgery, but told by her doctor she couldn't do more damage and continued to play through the pain.  Just recently, she learned that not only did she suffer ligament damage in one foot, but she fractured the other foot, rendering her season finished.  Rebekah has shown great aptitude, sportsmanship and the ultimate team player as she continued to work through her own personal injuries to help make her team better.

January '19 - Caitlyn Klusek

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
Caitlyn is a center back for the Frosh team.  She is the undeniable heart of the Frosh defense.  She has started every game this season, played more minutes than any other player on the squad.  Caitlyn is the anchor of a solid defense, that as a unit, has only allowed 18 goals through 17 games.  That superb effort has contributed to the team outscoring opponents 51 goals to 18.  Additionally, Caitlyn has scored 1 goal and assisted with 2 other goals, all of which were from over thirty five yards away from the goal.  Caitlyn's tenancity, sportsmanship and teamwork has led her to be the Frosh player of the month for January.​

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
Grace has been an exceptional leader on and off of the field, designated as one of our captains for this season.  She continues to rotate from position to position depending on the needs of the team, has always excepted and been more than willing to take on new responsibilities,and continues to show great leadership throughout the season.  Grace has been the most valuable and dependable defender on the field playing significant time at all four defensive positions during the season.​

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
Ryan plays forward and is a team captain on the Frosh team this season.  She currently leads the team with six assists and has added five goals.  Her coach (Cameron Coltharp) said about Ryan, "She is a captain who leads by example, demonstrating exceptional work ethic at training and on field prowess during competition.  As a leader she routinely encourages her teammates and acknowledges exceptional on field efforts."

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
During the month of December, Rylie Velez lead the Junior Varsity team to the Championship of the Liberty Soccer Tournament, where they unfortunately lost to San Ramon Valley 2 to 1.  Rylie has played multiple positions in the offensive attack and scored 9 goals during the month of December.  She always found herself creating scoring opportunities, including her teammates in the attack and following the attack giving herself second and third opportunities that pushed her goal total to 9 during the month.​

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
This is Alexa's second year on varsity where she has started as the lone target forward.  She has started every game this season.  During the month of December she scored 7 goals and had 2 assists.  She lets her play speak for her as she is extremely quick, reads the game well, makes her teammates better around her and has developed a powerful finishing shot, while never giving up and scored on second and third opportunities.

Reason why the coach whose this athlete:
​Lily plays goalkeeper on the Freshman team.  In five games during the month of December she made 48 saves, all while playing through an injury.  Lily is extremely positive, shown true leadership and a great teammate to the other girls on the Freshman team.
